but really, come on, if it fooled me, it will fool many a newbie. All you need to do is set the target range of the vocal level in relation to the rest of the mix. It was probably a YouTube video that said that, so that part is not Waves fault. Waves Vocal Rider Plug-in (Download) VCLRIDTDM - Recording Software: A true timesaver, this plugin adjusts your vocal levels automatically, saving you the need to draw each level change in your DAW or manually ride faders. it threw me off and one place it even said when in record the plugin writes automation to the standard volume automation, which is not true. Very poor that they left out this point, while going into detail on other things. I would have been better off not reading the manual (which has a step-by-step list without that step), and would have been better to just treat it like any other plugin. I read the manual (don't usually do that), watched you-tube videos, I scratched my head, and no luck. Either go to the automation menu in the plug-in or CTRL-OPT-CMD click the Rider Fader to enable. You still need to enable automation for the Rider Fader from within the plug-in, just like you do for any other plug-in. The Waves tutorial video on this is nice, but it misses one VERY important item.
